Policy Detail Screens

While each policy detail screen is unique to the line of business they serve, all policy screens have the same general layout. Look over the sample screen below. You'll see that all the information you normally need can be easily found on this one screen. No need to open other windows or navigate to other screens. This strongly contributes to increased efficiency, accuracy, time saving. The logical layout makes new users productive with nearly no training.

  1. The top of each policy screen shows things common to all policies and lines of business. Things such as: status, policy number, dates (effective, renewal, etc), carrier name, producer, etc.
  2. The bottom of every policy screen contains policy coverage. In addition, the bottom gives access to information unique to the policy type, or that have an impact on premium. See the more detailed samples by clicking on the links below.
  3. In the vertical center, between the top and bottom sections described above, the risk covered by the policy is described. For example, an auto policy will show info about covered vehicles. A fire policy will show information about the dwelling, and so on.

Line of Business Differences

Policies for all Lines Of Business use the above layout, but have slight variance due to differences in the line of business. Fire policies usually cover a single dwelling while an Auto policy often covers several vehicles. Of the two, the Auto screen is more complicated, so scroll down to get an idea of how ABS policy detail is presented.

This web page shows the Auto screen as an example. However, there are similar screens for Boat, Commercial, Earthquake, Fire (includes homeowner, dwelling, mobile home, etc), Flood, Health, Life, Worker's Compensation, and a miscellaneous screen for rare policies that don't fit the more standard lines of business. There is even a separate screen for Financial Services, or Investments, for agencies who cater to Series 6/7 products.

Near the top of the screen, just under the carrier field, notice the row of four tabs. They show the year, make, and model of the vehicles covered by this policy. Those tabs let you switch between all of this policy's vehicles. Above those tabs you'll see the policy information -- Status, Policy Number, Dates, Carrier, etc.

Below those tabs you'll see the risk information, vehicles in this case. Simply click a tab to see the detail for that vehicle. Policies with only one primary risk, such as a Fire Policy, will not have that row of tabs, although the risk information is in the same relative location.

Closer to the bottom of the screen, beneath the risk info, is another row of tabs. Each one gives a view of the limits, coverage, and other policy features and options. Naturally, this information varies quite a bit from one line of business to another.
